Welcome to the University of León. Although degrees such as Veterinary Medicine date back to 1852, the University of León was officially created in 1979. Nowadays we offer 40 Bachelor’s Degrees that cover a broad range of subjects, as well as numerous Master’s Degrees, both research and professional based, and Doctoral Studies. These studies are offered in the Campuses of León and Ponferrada, both well situated and with excellent facilities, which combined with the high competence of our faculty members, researchers and administrative and services personnel, makes our institution a perfect place to become well prepared professionals; competent and committed to society. At the University of León, we focus on the quality and innovation of education, and our teachings are adapted to the latest social demands.
Our university also offers ample sport, cultural and social activities that a large number of users take full advantage of. Additionally, there are numerous associations that organise different activities and that facilitate the integration of students in the university community.
León and Ponferrada are historical cities but modern and well equipped with the most up-to-date services, and a high university student population. Everyone that visits these cities speak enthusiastically about their experience, and those who have lived here agree that day-to-day life is nice and easy. Both the institutions and the society are proud of the University of León, collaborating with us in multiple projects and initiatives and, in turn, our community takes active part in local life.
In short, the University of León is a public university committed to its environment, responding to the social needs and applying the knowledge it generates to relevant social aspects. We offer our resources to society and collaborate closely with institutions, entities and businesses. It is a university with a services vocation, which I warmly invite you to get to know.
